https://lnkd.in/bRwKQ-C In North America the term “railcar” has a much broader meaning, and the term is used to refer to any kind of railway carriage, including unpowered goods wagons.
Southeast Railcar and Locomotive Services has completed construction of an additional 1000 feet of track inside its Plains Georgia car repair facility.
The new track will allow for more efficient handling of cars within the facility and expand the companies ability to have 14 more cars in place for repair.
During the track construction project contractors also added a third switch to the main plant lead, and plans are underway to build an additional track off of that switch to move cars to a planned car cleaning building.
The addition of the new track is just the beginning phase of track work slated for the Plains Georgia facility. That work is programed for an additional 2500 feet of track within the Plains plant.
